Tips & advice on storage...
The tips and advice listed here will be useful to both first time and regular users of self secure storage, and may even help you to avoid damaging your valuable possessions or getting locked out of your storage unit.
Your storage unit

- Have you read through the Conditions of Hire list.
- Your unit may be clean, but it is advisable to cover furniture etc, with old sheets to stop accumulation of dust.
- Don't forget to put a little lubrication on your padlock because they seize up.
General tips
- Disassemble larger items like wardrobes tables etc, so they are more manageable.
- Wrap china & glass in bubble wrap or newspaper before putting into storage.
- Books can get very heavy if too many are put in one box, spread them out in the bottom of several boxes to keep the weight down.
Domestic appliances

- Make sure you empty fridges & freezers & leave the doors slightly ajar, if possible allow them to dry out before storing.
- If you are storing a washing machine make sure any pipes have been fully drained before storing to avoid water damage.
- When storing televisions make sure they are in a protected, stable position to avoid damage.
- If you are storing an LCD or plasma screen make sure the front surface is protected, pressure on the front can cause damage similar to bruising.
